THE LIONESS
The lioness, less often represented than the lion, typically appears in different stances, accompanied by plant motifs. However, the lioness is always shown nursing two cubs and with the figure of a heart on her chest, as a symbol of feminine strength and intuition.
While the lion represents the sun as a masculine element in different cultural manifestations of antiquity, the lioness is associated with the moon, as queen of the night. She is seen as a feminine symbol that governs the intangible worlds of dreams where she is a figure of dignified authority.
