COUNTER COVER 38

Not only has the black colour of the embroidery thread been used for centuries to underline the motifs, but it has also been used to fill in large patterns of mixed floral and zoomorphic elements in their entirety. It was also used on the sleeves of the embroidered wedding-day shirts throughout the province of Salamanca, especially those worn by the bride.

Cloth from the Textile Collection of the Complutense University of Madrid.
