GRIFFINS
These are mythological animals, with attributes of both eagles and lions, although they are sometimes represented without wings. They have gradually become part of popular culture with poorly defined representations that are sometimes difficult to identify. They are probably Persian in origin.
Wool or fine worsted yarn were, in earlier times, the type of thread used in Serrano embroidery, although these materials were replaced by silk thread in the 18th century. Cotton (or so-called “mouliné yarn”) has made its appearance in recent times, though nowadays, both silk and cotton are commonly used.
