THE MYTHOLOGICAL LION
Among the zoomorphic motifs, the lion is one of the main motifs in the iconographic universe of popular Serrano embroidery. It is represented in many different ways, even with attributes of other animals that transform it into a mythological animal.
The lion is represented in different colours and together with plant motifs, at times with a three-leaf headdress and at other times crowned with different types of vegetation.
The tail and tongue are usually extended into wavy branches with floral motifs, resulting in the characteristic compositions of popular Serrano embroidery when mixed with others that emerge from different parts of the body.
