THE BUTTERFLY

The butterfly is a rarely depicted animal in the iconography of the Serrano embroidery. It appeared relatively recently in the second half of the 20th century in Mogarraz.

The butterfly has made a strong impact and it is here to stay, showing us that popular embroidery is alive and well. The butterfly appears both as a central motif and in the Greek keys bordering the pieces, fitting perfectly into the cloths’ composition.
