THE DRAGON

The dragon is a more recent figure in the iconography of Serrano embroidery. Its special feature is that it is embroidered mainly in blue shades, sometimes with no other animal or plant motifs.

The dragon is one of a group of imaginary, fabulous, mysterious or legendary creatures that appear in the different cloths embroidered in the Sierra de Francia. Different beings present in the mythology of ancient civilisations have been referred to as dragons and these creatures have become traditional in popular culture.
